Tatted Poppy ATCs for March

Jeannette Luttmer (Canada) likes flowers, trees and gardening and her favourite flower is poppy. So, I decided to tat a poppy for Jeannette's birthday ATC, and ended up running late trying to design one when I couldn't find any which I like. This tatted poppy may not look quite like the real flower especially when it's 2D, but I hope this unique ATC will further brighten up the special day for Jeannette, whose birthday falls on 1 Apr.

After I sent off the ATC to the birthday gal, I worked on a second piece for the month of March for The Linen Shelf's ATC Challenge.
Click on Feb ATCs to see all the Feb ATCs everyone has created.

I'm back to creating inchies and rinchies. Here's are the Easter sets embellished with tatted eggs, rabbits and flowers.
and rinchies with candy wrapper as the base.
I have done another set of inchies, but where have I misplaced them??? Hope I can find them soon enough to mail them out for swap.

Just Some ATCs

I missed the ATC session and fun last month, but finally March session was here. Moses introduced us to the style of painting by Georgia O'Keefe (1887-1986), an American painter best known for her large-format paintings of natural forms, especially flowers and bones. We focused on orchids and we tried to come up with their own drawing/painting using everything from markers, colour pencils to watercolours.
I'm not a painter myself, and attempted my best with watercolours. Much, much more to brush up :(

The theme for March was "Three on Tree". I swapped 2 ATCs done on the theme (bottom 2 - ladybirds by Mdm Au, and the owls by Vicki). The origami rooster and pig were Rita's works.
My own ATCs - a simple-fold ATC, "Who's Hiding?", an origami frog hiding in the grass when the ATC is unfolded.and "What I Sewed" - a three-fold ATC with stitched flower and floral buttons, complete with a die-cut needle and thread.
I have been tatting a lot of flowers for more ATCs, but they are not done yet :( But, there will be more in my next post!

Green Paper Collage Challenge

It's time again for the monthly Green Paper Collage Challenge! For this March challenge, I followed one of the given images for the idea of a tatted cat. Again, I printed the provided images in black and white and added an orangy-beige kitty. Here's "My Kitty" ATC!
I think I have forgotten to show this earlier, it's a Chinese New Year lantern made using almost 100% recycled materials - for my boy's school project. The top and bottom pieces came from a shoe box, the 4 columns from the inside of a roll of paper towel, wrapped with a piece of recycled Christmas wrapper. The flowers, roses and leaves are made from egg cartons.

More Birthday ATCs and a Turtle Pincushion

More birthday ATCs!

This set of ATC and fabric postcard is done by Sharon McGrath (Australia). A colourful collage of butterflies - one of my favourite subjects - on the postcard. A spider on the ATC! Do you know spider is a sign for good luck? Throughout time, the spider has been associated with many myths and superstitions. Spiders have always meant good luck to professional weavers and spinners, for obvious reasons. Spiders also bring good luck in money matters!

This set of peacock ATC, card and postage stamp came from Tahlia Holt (USA). Tahlia likes peacocks, so do I. Besides a self-designed peacock card and stamp, Tahlia sewed an exquisite peacock ATC.

Linda Keller (USA) did this crazy quilt ATC with small embroidered flowers.

More floral blooms, tatted ones too, from Maria Silva (Portugal) on a fabric postcard.

Annette Garcia (New Zealand) painted and dyed the background of this under-the-sea ATC. I love it - the colours and the way the embroidered plants and fish flow with it. The card shows the Omana Beach in New Zealand.

There was some small talk about this tatted flowervine pattern. It is a pretty and sweet one, I just couldn't resist trying to tat up a length!

StitchMap's February Fun Friday Toot was a turtle pin cushion. I did one embelished with a tatted flower and some simple beading, 12 cm from head to tail. So many mishaps along the way, I almost gave up completing it! Now my girls are asking for one too!
