Terrapins, Drawings, Doll and Tatted Flowers & Butterflies

It had been a busy week - my office work is piling up, the children's revision for the final examinations, the new terrapins, changing maid, ...
Here are the terrapins my DH bought for the children, but they ended up my charge. There are actually 3, but the third one isn't well, so we have put it into another container separately.

Found some of my children's drawings. These 2 are drawn by Kristine, I think she can draw better than the other 2.

These are drawn by Joey, she thinks so, apparently they were drawn some time ago.

Found this piece of fabric in a shop. I remember these type of fabrics were pretty common when I was a child and my grandfather made me one too, but of course, the doll was long gone. I'm going to sew this up for my girls.

And these are what I tatted up this week. My children and I love Vicki's ones so much, I tatted more with Anchor size 5 pearl cotton threads, and experimented with 2 sizes of the magnetic beads. The flowers progressed from left to right as I tried different stitch counts. Now to split them with the girls.

Thanks for showing the drawings, the dolls is wonderful I made those too.

Love the butterflies with the magnetic bead, is that Jane's pattern? how did you get the bead in the SCMR??

I love your little tatted butterflies and flowers! The beads really make the design stand out.

I remember Raggedy Ann - had one a long time ago. I wonder if I can find her and Andy here.

I remember those sew-along fabrics too - in fact, I think you can still get them here, A couple of years ago I bought Frosty the Snowman in that form - he made a lovely squishy Christmas pillow!

Maureen - where exactly in KL can we get them?

Zarina, I'm not in KL - I'm in Australia! I bought my Frosty from Spotlight - if there are any large craft chains in KL they should have them.
I was born in KL, so it's my "hometown" too!

Well, Tatskool, I think Vicki did hers with just simple rings. Not sure if it is Jane's pattern, thought Vicki made it up. Following Vicki's samples, I did mine with just rings and some with rings and chains, but no SCMR. After doing 5 rings, we thread the bead with the thread ends and tie.

Thanks, Tattingchic and Diane, well, I believe these magnetic beads are only available in this metallic grey colour though I will think they will look better with other colours.

Zarina, Maureen, I happen to find this one & only fabric doll in 1 small shop selling a lot of old and left-over stuff. Fabric companies may still be printing such fabric dolls, perhaps with new designs, but they sure are not as popular now as in the past. Otherwise, we might see more of them around.

Singtatter,
Your right, I did mine the same way you did- 5 rings and then tied the magnetic beads in the middle. The butterfly I made in pretty much the same way except I made ring 1 threaded the bead, made ring 2 and 3, threaded back through the bead to make ring 4. Then I cut and tied. No split rings and no chains- just rings. Its a good way to use up thread ends. Its very simple so I don't think it actually qualifies as a pattern, more of a finishing technique.
